New site

The redesigned Mustion Merkitys website was launched on 30 June 2011. Wey-hey!

The original deadline for the revamp was, erm, five years ago. This is a problem we are familiar with from what our clients tell us: the first thing many of them say is that the site should have been set up or revamped eons ago but they just haven't got around to it. They simply hadn’t known where to start. This is where we have come to the rescue and sat down with our client to figure out what their objectives are and worked the whole thing into a manageable project. This is something we know how to do.

Except of course, when it comes to our own site – what is it that they say about cobbler's children having no shoes...? Over the years, the company and the entire business environment transformed, as it tends to do, and our clients' projects were always on the top of the list. There were times when we thought about outsourcing the whole thing to an external professional. Then we thought, hang on, that’s us. So, there was nothing for it but to start from the beginning: what is it that we actually do, and what are we supposed to achieve with the new site? If these things aren’t crystal clear, you are in for trouble.

The same as our new clients, we filled in our website planning questionnaire, which is designed to give us information about the nature of the project and the things that need to be decided. Then we moved on to discuss the site’s information architecture, content and languages, build an HTML prototype and plan the look and feel. We know from experience that content creation is the stumbling block of many a project: the workload can take you by surprise, even if you are a professional writer, and editing your own stuff is not always easy. Take it from us: we know.

The day when a site goes live feels just as great every time. We helped to create that. And there it is. Once you stop floating, however, you realise that you are in the next phase already: maintenance. You tweak this or that tech detail and do content updating. Right now, we are at that point with our site. There it is. Okay, I need to correct that typo. We could maybe still polish those titles and add some links. I wonder what web analytics is saying about our visitor numbers?

We’d like to thank everyone who has helped us to bring our site in to the world: this would not have been possible without a little help from our trusted partners. Cheers!
